Nokia 9 shows up in a video with a ‘different’ design
HMD Global, the Finnish firm that has the global rights to manufacture and sell Nokia-branded smartphones, has launched Nokia 8 few weeks ago so there’s no point expecting a next version of the handset any time soon. But this doesn’t mean that leaked renders and images can’t make their way to the web. This time, one of the smartphone tipsters has posted a 3D render video of the Nokia 9, giving us an idea of what to expect in coming months.
The video, coming from @Onleaks and shared by CompareRaja website, shows the alleged Nokia 9 from all the possible angles. From what we can see in the video, the smartphone, much like the Google Pixel 2 handsets, Apple iPhone models and others, will be ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack. It will have a single USB Type-C port at the bottom with mono speakers.
What’s more disappointing to see is the large rear camera bump, something that was not present with the Nokia 8, Nokia 6, Nokia 5 or Nokia 3. Interestingly, the design of the dual rear camera setup is different from that of the Nokia 8. It is a short capsule-shaped design with the LED flash and sensors sitting on the right and left sides respectively.
Another change will come in the form of a rear fingerprint sensor, which until now has not been seen with any of the four Nokia smartphones.
The screen will also be expanding to the sides of the smartphone, according to the video. While we are not sure how HMD plans to use that part of the screen with vanilla Android UI, it will definitely make content more immersive.
HMD Global has made no statements as to when it will launch the Nokia 9 or if the handset even exists or not. However, the website claims the handset to come with a 5.5-inch AMOLED QHD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB inbuilt storage.
For now, HMD Global is planning to release it’s Nokia 8 in India. The device is set to start shipping in the country starting October 14 (Saturday).
