Apple, in addition to three smartphones, launched the next-generation Apple Watch wearable device at the event held in the Steve Jobs Theatre at Apple Park, California. The watch was introduced alongside the Apple TV 4K video streaming box and three new iPhone models, including the flagship iPhone X.
Apple Watch Series 3 price and availability
Apple Watch Series 3 comes in two case sizes – 38mm and 42mm. The wearable device is also divided into two variants based on GPS only and GPS + Cellular features. The GPS only model starts at Rs 29,900 while the Series 1 price has been revised to Rs 21,900. The Apple Watch Nike+ starts at the same price tag as the Watch Series 3.
Apple Watch Nike+ will be available to order starting September 15 and will be made available starting October 5 in India. The GPS only version of the Apple Watch 3 will be available beginning September 29 in the country. The firm has not yet revealed the availability of the GPS+Cellular version of the Watch Series 3 in India.
Several new bands with different colours have also been introduced for the Watch Series 3, Nike+ Edition and the Hermes version.
Apple Watch Series 3 features and specifications
The new smartwatch sports S3 dual-core processor, while the Nike+ version runs on W2 Apple Wireless chip. They come with built-in GPS and Glonass, barometric altimeter, heart rate sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope and ambient light sensor.

They can simply raise their wrists close to their face and talk with the other party in a phone call. The new generation smartwatches support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz and Bluetooth v4.2.
Apple Watch Series 3 sports a 2n d-generation OLED Retina display with 272×340 pixels and 312×390 pixels for 38mm and 42mm respectively. The display also supports Force Touch technology. The wearable devices are backed by built-in Li-ion batteries that are rated to deliver up to 18 hours on regular usage.
The Apple Watch Series 3 will run WatchOS 4.0 out of the box. The OS version was introduced by Apple back in June during the WWDC 2017 developer’s conference. The watchOS 4 comes with new watch faces. One of the notable watch faces is the Siri watch face that uses machine learning to adapt to the wearer’s daily usage patterns.
The OS also comes with an updated Activity app, which now delivers more personalised updates along with more animations on achieving health goals. The Music app has also been updated.
