Windows 10 users who have opted to be a member of the Insider Program are in for a treat, as Microsoft has announced the Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17004 for PC. Though there is a tiny catch here, as Microsoft is introducing this for users in the Fast ring who have opted in to ‘Skip Ahead’ only.
Insiders who are a part of the Skip Ahead program will continue to receive builds RS_PRERELEASE branch builds which has moved to RS4 (Red Stone), the release to follow the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (RS3).
The highlight of the new update is the integration of ‘Fluent Design’ which can be seen to make some appearance changes to the start menu.
“As we progress into the next feature update, you’ll begin to see more and more elements of Fluent Design light up. We love the enthusiasm we’ve seen for Fluent Design, and with today’s build you’ll notice that Reveal is now visible on Start in All apps,” said Dona Sarkar, Software Engineer, Windows and Devices Group in her blog on Windows blogs.
The new Reveal effect highlights the area around the cursor when selecting an app tile and a news tile as well. When clicked upon, the button or tie shows a ripple effect moving away from the mouse pointer and acts as an indicator to what the user clicked.
Apart from these the Build 17004 introduces a bunch of improvements on Microsoft Edge including address bar, tabs and keyboard layout issues among others. There are other general improvements and fixes as well some of which are the same for Red Stone build 3 and 4.
Windows Central has even come up with a video for the new RS 4 build, which you can check out below:
