Xiaomi recently introduced a Mi Exchange programme in India in a bid to enhance its presence domestically and amplify its sales. The Chinese tech firm has collaborated with Cashify, a Delhi based service provider, to let customers exchange their old smartphones and get the new ones at a discount.
This move came few days before the firm announced that it has slashed the prices of numerous accessories based on the revised GST prices by the government. The list includes a whole bunch of accessories ranging from smartphone covers, screen guards to power banks and USB cables.
Cashify team will determine the exchange value
Announcing the new development through its community forums, Xiaomi stated that the exchange program would need your old smartphone in order to deliver a brand new Mi handset, at the nearest Mi Home.
Based on your phone’s condition, Cashify team will offer a suitable price, which will be discounted at the time of buying the new handset. The customers have to pay the full amount while purchasing the new smartphone from the Mi Home store. Cashify will pay them for their old models soon after.
The returns will be as per the market conditions, says the firm. It has been added that no negotiations can be made on the proposed exchange price.
Xiaomi has made it clear that only one device can be exchanged with an available Xiaomi smartphone and that the smartphone should be listed in the Cashify portfolio. Customers can also opt for a pickup service from Cashify to get their handsets picked right from their preferred location.
This move is likely to increase Xiaomi’s sales to some extent in the country. A recent IDC report stated that Xiaomi has already joined hands with Samsung as the top smartphone seller in the third quarter this year in India.
Presently, Xiaomi has 13 Mi Home stores in the country across Delhi/NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai following the debut of its first brick-and-mortar store in Bengaluru in May.
