Last month XDA Developers website found out that OnePlus could be working on a ‘Star Wars edition’ of its OnePlus 5T smartphone. Now, after a few days, the Chinese tech firm has made the variant official by sending out a teaser poster.
The OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition was unveiled at the Comic-Con event in Bangalore, India a couple of days ago. Although the company did not reveal much about the smartphone at that time, it has now (Monday, December 4), revealed its launch details.
From the teaser poster, it can be seen that the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition has a White-coloured black panel (taking hints from the Storm Trooper character in the movie series) along with the Star Wars logo at the bottom.
Matching with the Red colour theme of Star Wars, the smartphone also has a red notification slider button this time, something which has always been seen in Gold, Grey or Black colours based on the Soft Gold, Slate Grey or the Midnight Black variants. Rest of the design remains the same.
OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition will be launching on December 14 in Mumbai, India. Interested users can also book tickets to watch the event live by paying Rs 999 via Paytm. The tickets will be made available from December 7, 10am onwards. It will be going on sales starting December 15, Friday from Amazon India, OnePlusStore.in and OnePlus experience stores in Bangalore and Noida.
We are not yet sure if the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition will come with any specification change or not. It has also not been revealed if the device will be coming to other countries besides India.
For those unaware, OnePlus has introduced its OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition in order to promote its own device as well as grab the attention of the Star Wars fans. It has timed the launch of the device right at the time when the movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi is to be released. The movie’s release date is December 13.
The introduction of the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition comes few days after the unveiling of the ‘Lava Red’ colour variant of the smartphone. The particular variant has been launched in China and there’s no word if it will be coming to other countries or not.
Like seen in the Star Wars Limited Edition, the Lava Red variant also keeps the front panel and the rear camera setup in Black colour. Everything else on the specifications front stays the same as the regular version.
This year OnePlus also collaborated with a French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac to bring the JCC version of the OnePlus 5. The particular handset was launched in September in Paris.
