Dota 2’s 7.07 ‘The Dueling Fates’ update patch notes is now live. And boy does it look like a huge update. It introduces a massive number of changes including two new heroes, the Pangolier and Dark Willow.
The Pangolier and Dark Willow are original heroes that did not exist when DotA was just a custom map on World of Warcraft. The heroes were teased back in August by Valve. Pangolier is a pangolin like character that uses a rapier (not to be confused with the in-game item) and appears similar to Puss in the Boots. Dark Willow, on the other hand, looks like similar to Tinkerbell.
Pangolier is a melee agility carry hero with quick damaging and stunning skills. While Dark Willow is a ranged intelligence support that can disable opponents well. Apart from new heroes, Valve has made some serious changes in matchmaking, both ranked and unranked. Matchmaking Rating or MMR will now be seasonal and will be adjusted in every six months. Players will be given badges according to their MMR.
We assume Valve intends to keep the ranking system fresh and updated with this approach.
On the unranked end, Valve introduces a new game mode called the Turbo Mode. This mode will grant players more gold per minute and experience to level up. Players will also have the ability to buy items anywhere on the map. This will give them a relaxed approach to matches and might even turn out to be a good place to practice strategies.
And now on to the gameplay patch, Valve has introduced some drastic changes in almost all aspects of the game. This will require some time for even the pros to test out and ought to give a fresh approach to the game. The 7.07 balance patch is full of new items, item reworks, hero balances and reworks, map changes, creep balances and meta changes as well. The Dueling Fates update goes live on November 1 and can now be tested on the Dota 2 beta client.
