British automobile firm Land Rover took the wraps off its brand new Range Rover Velar on 21st September in India (released earlier in August in the UK and the US). The next-gen mid-sized crossover SUV seems more like a bridge between the Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover Evoque. It is larger than Evoque and is said to retain the same performance like the Range Rover Sports.
According to the carmaker (owned by Jaguar Land Rover, which is owned by TATA India ever since 2008), Range Rover Velar is the most intelligent and futuristic car ever made by the company. Now there are two 10-inch touch screens, which enable better multitasking for passengers. The driver can use the navigation on the first screen whereas passenger can view music library on the other screen. Both the displays are powered by Intel processors with 60GB SSD inbuilt storage. They both work together when it comes to navigation, audio, climate and vehicle settings.
Navigation– Range Rover Velar is said to come with one of the best in class navigation pro systems. It runs on the inbuilt SIM for providing live traffic information, receiving OTA updates and support web browsing.
Driver assistance technology – Velar’s Driver Assistance tech aims to reduce the driver’s stress while driving. This feature includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Queue Assist for Traffic jams and Speed Limiter, all of which are self-explanatory.
Configurable ambient lighting – Interior of the Velar is nothing less than impressive when the Ambient Lighting feature comes to life. The driver can set the colour of the cabin varying upon the moods and interests. The tone ranges from cold to warm, which is from deep blue, light blue and white to green, yellow, red and maroon.
